Could TP be the next AI?
An interesting thought experiment with regard to AI is to substitute it with some alternative, hypothetical technology.
Let’s say, for argument’s sake, leading tech businesses have cracked the secret of telepathy and are working to perfect it.
Everyone’s talking about #TP. It’s the big new thing.
You can just imagine how the discussions would unfold.
In this imaginary world, we’re told we can fit a device to our temple and it allows us to read the thoughts of everyone around us within a 20-metre radius. And in the very latest development, if two people wearing the device connect over an app called TPATH, they can seamlessly share thoughts with one another at any distance.
So what’s the problem?
You can bet there are people standing in the way of progress, obstinately refusing to get involved with the new tech, can’t you?
Yes, some are picking holes in it, saying that the telepathic connection isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Too garbled. Or that it requires too much concentration and leaves you with a headache.
Others are muttering darkly about how they don’t like the idea of people reading their thoughts full stop!
It’s almost as if these people don’t understand that thought-reading is the future.
Whether we like it not, the TP genie is well and truly out of the bottle now.
So the choice is simple: get with the whole psychic vibe or get left behind.
Of course, it’s really important that we use our devices ethically. Best practice is to wear yours prominently and obviously so that people know that you’re a telepath. But ultimately, those who aren’t wearing the devices are putting themselves at a disadvantage. The best thing you can do is be open about the benefits and get everyone in your team to pscyh up. Then there’s a completely level playing field.
The use cases for TP are endless.
Online meetings that previously took an hour over can now be completed in minutes. Just sign in with your device and connect the TPATH app to Zoom. Instantly, you’ll know everything you need and can get on with the rest of your day, focusing on the really important stuff that you never usually get around to.
Forget about staff appraisals and one-to-ones. Encourage your employees to wear their devices and they can get realtime feedback on when they’re likely to be fired.
Vet suppliers rigorously with telepathic interviews and see if the expansive claims on their website match what’s going on in their heads.
So many sectors are set to be disrupted by telepathy. It’s inevitable there are going to be winners and losers in this kind of psychic shake-up.
TP is great news for policing and law enforcement. Therapists are finding it takes a lot of hard work out of their 50-minute sessions with clients.
Field sales is dead in the water though, what with prospective customers slapping their TP connector on during meetings.
Teachers are adamant that kids shouldn’t wear devices in class, but they’re surely fighting a losing battle. Everyone wants to pick the brains of the class swot, after all. Or the teacher, for that matter. At the end of the day, the telepathic link is just a tool. A bit like a calculator. And the kids will be going into jobs where telepathy is the norm, so it would be irresponsible not to prepare them.
Of course, you hear all this talk about regulation, but let’s get real. The telepathy companies will always be one step ahead of the regulators. And with China and Russia storming ahead in the development of their own telepathic devices, we simply can’t afford to be left behind.
So now’s the time to embrace the change. It’s full steam ahead to our brighter, more interconnected future.
